Artistic Fabric & Garment Industries (AFGI) is a global supplier of premium denim fabrics and garments. Based in Karachi, Pakistan, the company produces some of the most innovative denim products for top jean brands. AFGI will be at Denim Première Vision on December 5th and 6th in London, to tell you about their latest project.
27,000 Mangrove Trees
AFGI is proud to announce it has committed to planting 27,000 mangrove saplings in Karachi. In fact, this initiative as part of WWF-Pakistan’s Earth Hour 2018 “Mangrove Plantation Campaign”. The company is committed to reducing its carbon footprint through this campaign, with one tree planted for each employee.
As a result, the aim of the plantation campaign is to work towards a greener, more climate-resilient Karachi.
Ahmed Javed, Director of AFGI said, “At AFGI, we believe our responsibility goes beyond just manufacturing fabrics and garments. Therefore, we took it upon ourselves to work towards offsetting a part of the carbon footprint of each individual who works at AFGI by planting 27,000 mangrove saplings. We hope this initiative will go a long way towards conserving mangrove forests. But also, benefitting the communities they support and paving the way for more partnerships like this in the future.”
Finally, through the mangrove campaign, AFGI and WWF-Pakistan aim to raise awareness of environmental education. Therefore, they are committed to continue their efforts to reduce their carbon footprint through other such campaigns in the future.
