Denim Première Vision along with Giusy Bettoni – sustainability consultant for Première Vision and CEO of C.L.A.S.S. sustainable platform – have invited researchers, entrepreneurs, designers and retailers to talk about visionary strategies, innovations and solutions tackling the impact of the business sector on the planet.

Let’s ‘Make Fashion Circular’ – Ellen MacArthur Foundation
Every second, the equivalent of one garbage truck of textiles is landfilled or burned. An estimated USD 500 billion value is lost every year due to clothing being barely worn and rarely recycled. If nothing changes, by 2050 the fashion industry will use up a quarter of the world’s carbon budget. To build a fashion industry that can thrive in the future, the Ellen MacArthur Foundation’s Make Fashion Circular Initiative brings together organisations across the fashion industry to develop solutions, so clothes are made to be made again, from safe and renewable materials and new business models to increase their use. But where do you start on this journey? In July 2019, Make Fashion Circular published The Jeans Redesign Guidelines. These define minimum requirements for the production of jeans, taking bold steps towards a circular economy. Sixteen companies have already started working to implement them and at this session, you can discover how your organisation can start its own transition towards producing jeans from safe materials, that are worn longer and made to be made again.

Buell will unveil the beginning of a new era in textiles. Evrnu is a textile innovations company offering solutions to the most pressing challenges facing the textile and apparel industry, beginning with the problem of garment waste. As an R&D partner to leading designers, brands and retailers, the company has developed a new technology called NuCycl that transforms waste into a resource. NuCycl is an entirely new kind of engineered fibre with performance and environmental advantages, made from clothing diverted from landfills.

Today, department stores’ total spending on sustainable products represents, on average, 23%, and they will buy around 40% in five years, according to a McKinsey report.
