The Pianeta fabric by Berto

Pianeta (meaning planet) is the fabric symbolising Berto’s circularity and sustainability, as the cotton yarn used to make this textile comes from Berto’s own production leftovers. When the indigo dyeing process ends, there is an unavoidable production of waste: the dyed yarn coming from the beginning and the end of the line. This waste is re-generated and transformed into a new yarn thanks to our supplier Marchi e Fildi, and used to produce the Pianeta fabrics.

Thanks to this re-generated cotton yarn, Berto saves 65% of standard water use. Then, during the indigo dyeing process, the mill uses a natural and totally biodegradable sizing. Lastly, they finish the fabric with a special new finishing process that permits a saving of 85% in terms of water and a reduction of 32% gr of CO2 emissions per fabric metre, with respect to conventional finishing.

A 360° sustainable production!

Advance Denim and the new Aniline Free Indigo by Archroma

Advance Denim is launching a denim fabric with aniline free indigo dyeing ,  Archroma Denisol Pure 30.

Archroma’s new aniline-free* indigo dye, Denisol® Pure Indigo 30 liq, reduces risk when producing the traditional, iconic indigo blue that consumers associate with denim and jeans.

During production, some of the aniline stays locked into the indigo pigment and is difficult to wash off the fabric. The remainder of the aniline impurity, approximately 300 metric tons, is discharged during dyeing. This can be an issue as aniline is toxic to aquatic life. In addition, exposure levels for factory workers can be high. The toxic chemical is therefore starting to feature on the restricted substance lists (RSL) of some major clothing brands and retailers.

For designers and brand owners who long for authentic indigo inspiration, the new Denisol® Pure Indigo 30 liq now also makes it possible to produce indigo-dyed denim without high levels of aniline impurities. From fibre to finish, Archroma offers a full range of possible effects and colours, from the authentic roots of indigo to the most innovative and eco-advanced solutions.

Eileen Fisher Renew

“Where others see waste, we see possibility.”

At Eileen Fisher, we believe in clothes that stand the test of time. But nothing, not even your favourite sweater, lasts forever. That’s why we’ve created Renew, a take-back and reuse program that preserves the value of our clothes at every stage, in any condition. It’s part of our commitment to being circular by design.

Here’s how it works: you bring back your old Eileen Fisher clothes we find them another home. When your clothes can no longer be worn, we remake them into one-of-a-kind designs—and we save the scraps, because they’re tomorrow’s raw materials.

By taking responsibility for the lifecycle of our clothes, we’re patching up the holes in a flawed apparel industry and setting a new standard for sustainability. But we can’t do it alone. Every time you choose to bring your clothes back or shop Renew, you’re helping us design a future without waste.

Bethany Williams

British designer Bethany Williams presents her SS19 collection “No Address Needed to Join” following in the environmental and socially enterprising foundation laid with her debut collection last season “Women for Change”. Working in collaboration with The Quaker Mobile Library and British publishing house Hachette UK, this season celebrates waste materials from the publishing industry and the innovative Mobile Library Charity. To support The Mobile Library Charity, Bethany is donating 20% of the profits from this collection.

As with every season the collection will be produced from recycled and organic materials. The materials link closely to the story of books and libraries, utilizing waste product from Clay’s book manufacturing in Suffolk, one of Hachette UK’s printing partners. Bethany has taken the book waste to San Patrignano in Italy and worked alongside the community to weave fabrics mixed from book waste, waste from San Patrignano and donated pre-production waste from mills in Italy.

Chen Wen

The creation of this collection combines art, fashion and innovation. A unique kaleidoscope of expression in fabric and denim design is revealed by adopting traditional Chinese Miao embroidery, which showcases new highlights of denim garments integrating Chinese and Western elements.

The unique denim fabric made by Advance Denim and Solucell uses SolucellAir technology to fill cotton with air. By creating a hollow channel inside the cotton yarn, the fabric is softer and lighter compared to conventional denim fabrics. This new technology provides moisture and temperature management functions, which make you feel comfortable in any kind of climate.
